Cursor Pricing Model Overview
Quota System: Cursor uses a two-tier quota system consisting of local quota and burst quota to manage usage and billing.
Quota Consumption: When using Agent features, the system consumes your quotas. Higher usage, more expensive models, and longer requests consume more quota.
Local Quota (Local Rate Limit): A periodically replenished quota that fully refills every few hours. As long as your usage doesn't exceed the recovery rate, you can use continuously.
Burst Quota (Burst Rate Limit): An "overdraft" quota available for short-term intensive usage. It recovers very slowly compared to local quota.
Billing Trigger: Once both local and burst quotas are exhausted, the system will prompt you, and subsequent usage will trigger pay-per-use billing.
Unlimited Usage: For paid plan users (like Pro), if you can control usage pace to stay within local quota recovery rate, you can theoretically achieve "unlimited" usage without additional charges.
Dynamic Quota: Specific quota amounts are not fixed as they are dynamically calculated based on factors like model used, message length, and context size.
